I was so tired this morning. I did not want to get out of my cozy warm bed but I'd accepted an invitation to attend The Medieval Festival at a local school. I seriously regretted telling my friend we'd be there. But I did, so I drug myself out of bed, drug the kids out of bed, fed them, dressed them and we made it out the door and down to the school on time.
It was so-o-o-o worth it! This is a private school and the Medieval Festival was put on by the 4th grade class. They were awesome. There was art, drama, music, reenactments and food... lots of yummy food. They roasted a whole pig (the parents, not the fourth graders) and served cheese tarts, fruit, bread bowls, potato soup, desserts, and cider. The kids performed a play and sang songs. They recited what'd they'd learned and did a May Pole dance. A local historical society demonstrated sword fighting.
It actually made me feel a bit badly that my kids don't get to do stuff like that. This school does invite homeschoolers to participate in their drama program, school sports, and field trips. They also offer some classes per diem so you don't have to sign up for full time. We've taken advantage of some of their activities and plan to do more.
Many private schools are looking for kids to fill out their sports teams and drama productions. If you're looking for a low or no cost way to get your homeschooled kids involved in group activities, a private school may offer what you want. It's a win-win.

That looks so cool! That's what we're studying right now, so I am totally envious of your opportunity. Thanks for posting pictures so we can live a little vicariously. ;-)
Hey! We did that! It was a lot of fun.
