Overheard at my dinner table at just one meal ...
- I don't like baked beans.
- I don't like cheesy potatoes.
- I don't like corn.
- I don't like the edges.
- I don't like that
- I'm not eating that.
- What is that?
- Do I have to eat that?
- How much of that do I have to eat?
- Can I be done?
What's so great about the family dinner table? I'm beginning to think the old custom of feeding the adults before the children was a good one. Or better yet, I'll start my own custom of eating by myself while watching HGTV.

That is so funny, I literally just said this to my husband. I'm hiding in my bedroom, watching TV, eating my dinner in peace; everyone follows me to tell me what part of dinner they dislike. I've started just making what my husband and I like, if the 4 kids don't like it, there is always PBJ.
I know. This diet has actually been the best thing ever. I can make my own lovely meal with lots of veggies, I can try new recipes, or I can just eat a Lean Cuisine and make them whatever ignorant crap they want, which is usually hamburgers, pizza, hotdogs and chicken wings. Then I go hide with a book.
We talk and laugh more than we eat and the kids end up getting reprimanded for getting a little too crazy. :) We go for a couple nights a week- we spend lots of time together without supper time anyways. :)
I like baked beans, cheesy potatoes AND corn -- maybe I should come to your house for dinner!
I get off fairly easy in this department because I'm only preparing food for myself and one child, so there are fewer palates to cater to. But she definitely has her moments, such as when we're ordering pizza and she doesn't want me to have the toppings I like on my half because "they might touch my pizza at the edges." Argh.
