Well, Rye didn't handle that "B" very well. He insisted the problems weren't wrong and when we went over them and he saw that they were wrong, he got mad. The only reason he takes math tests is b/c he loves them... but I guess they're not as much fun when you don't ace 'em.
We had a very busy weekend. The YMCA scheduled double games on Saturday. That doesn't sound too bad until you figure that families with three soccer players have to go to SIX games. We had games at 8:30, 9:00, 11:30, 12:00, 12:30, and 1:30! Whew! At one point, we had three kids playing on three different fields! Luckily, Adam and Evan played on fields that were only ~20 yards apart. I stood in the middle and cheered for both of them.
Adam is playing on a new team this year so that means new people. He's not very good at meeting new people. So, when I saw him chatting in the backfield when he was supposed to be playing defense, I was torn. The ball was on the other side of the field but, really, he should have been watching and definitely not bunched up talking. But I let it slide... just b/c I was glad to see him making a new friend. Soccer skills can only take you so far... social skills will be an asset forever.
Since we got up early and sat in the cold wind all morning, Jeff decided it would be a good day to play lumberjack. Lightening had struck a tree at his mom's house last fall and it needed to be cut up and burned. It had only been laying there for months but it was imperative that it be cleaned up Saturday [note the sarcasm]. So that's where we were after soccer. Jeff got to play with the chain saw while SIL, MIL, Adam, and I hauled 30 feet of tree PLUS branches to the other side of the house for burning. It was a cedar tree and it had been laying there drying for months so it burned fast and HIGH and it smelled really really good. I don't like hauling wood but I will admit I love a good fire. However, I do not love roasting hot dogs on a fire that's hot enough to melt your skin!
