My nieces brought their Rock Band game up to Grandma's house (I just want it on the record that *I* did not pay $200 for a video game and also that is not my orange shag carpet).
I'm not sure if I can recommend the game or not. It was really, really, really fun. BUT most of the songs were not appropriate for the kids and yet, they weren't appropriate for ME either. There's a very specific age range that will benefit from the song choices. You have to be old enough to appreciate a love song, yet young enough to know the songs! LOL As for me, I knew only three of the songs.
Though I'm not good at it, singing was my favorite. I sang Eye of the Tiger and Wanted: Dead or Alive. I also tried the drums, but mostly played bass. Here's the proper facial expression for a bass player (I really do have lips):

So, my review...
Pros:
- fun
Cons:
- expensive
- takes up lots of space
- very loud
- not enough good* songs
- only comes with one guitar
* 80's rock and/or pop; ie. songs I know the words to

first of all, when I saw that 1st pic, I thot you were steph because you looked/are so very very skinny.
Also, you can buy an extra guitar, but it will add significantly to the 200$ price tag.
I wont tell you my opinion of the game. Actually, I will, as if you dont already know. No one needs to be singing about that stuff. Married people in monog relationships could maybe sing it to each other in the privacy of their own bedroom. Frankly, I dont care how good it was, I dont need to hear about it and i certainly would not want my dh to share about it on the radio. Im talking about sex, a few love song lyrics might be ok. They had "I can't fight this feeling anymore" on the end of Horton hears a who. Back to my original thought, also, I domt want to train or encourage my children to be rock stars, even if you think the music is ok, (I dont) the culture is way not. and the testimony, yikes. timer went off on my brownies, i gotta go!
Oh, your pros and cons list is skewed. ;-) I'm obviously going to disagree with the first commenter (your sister, I'm thinking?). We *love* Rock Band. Yeah, some of the songs are inappropriate, but there are enough middle-of-the-road or cleaned-up versions not to be so horrible. I do keep hoping someone will come up with a Christian Contemporary version.
My pros are:
FUN!
Non-competitive
Something the whole family (almost) can do together.
Fun!
Cons:
Yeah, we could deal with better song choices.
Expensive
And, hey, we bought a second guitar. ;-)
My BIL brought his to my MIL house. I knew most of the songs on the version he brought. But I kept saying to Tim, "I can't believe we are letting our kids sing these songs!" They had a lot of fun, but we sure won't be buying one either!
