We checked our apple mummies today. The one that's whole and simply hanging is drying out nicely. The one we sliced and buried in natron salt (baking soda) is moldy and disgusting. My science experiments (although this is actually for history) never turn out right!
I guess we're about done with ancient Egypt. I wanted them to read Magic Treehouse Mummies in the Morning but my library fines have grown to astronomical proportions. We checked out books on Rye's card last time. Now those are overdue and he's got fines, too. I'm embarrassed to say exactly how close we live to the library!
Maybe we'll have more time for the library now that fall sports are OVER!! Yippee! Adam's soccer team lost the championship game but that makes them 2nd place, so not too bad! Ryan's football team lost early in the play-offs which are still on-going. They still have a trophy dinner next Monday but practice and games are finished. I've been enjoying my free evenings the past couple of days. :)

You just reminded me that I haven't checked our Cornish Game Hen mummies in a long time. Weeks, actually. They're in a tupperware container and the lid hasn't started bulging yet, so that's a good sign, lol.
Oh, I wish you had our library. You can renew books online so you don't get the fees, it's great. Although, I sometimes forget to do that too! And I will admit to putting books in cards with no fines too. :)

Ewwww, wow how odd that your properly mummified apple got moldy, and the one left to the air is just dry. When we mummified apples, our air apple was just nasty but the mummy turned out well. Guess we'll see what happens next year when we mummify once again ;-)
