Wanna See?

We've been slacking on our time line for Mystery of History all year. The book suggests you use a cardboard sewing board so you can fold and store the time line out of sight. I was waiting until I was able to get one. But I went to the sewing store and they were $17! For a piece of cardboard! I went ahead and bought one but have since decided that was not a good use of our money. I'm going to return it. It's not hard to find free cardboard so that's what we did. We unfolded a box, cut off the flap on one side and ~Voila~ we have a free template for our time line.

This morning we caught up, adding all the people and events we've studied so far this year. I think it turned out pretty good! I can brag since *I* did most of the work!

Across the bottom you see the seven days of creation. Those aren't dated since we don't know for sure how long ago that happened. The next row up is labeled with a question mark b/c we don't know the exact date of those events either. We put the approximate dates with the pictures. The people and events on row 1 are Adam and Eve, Jubal and Tubal-Cain, Noah and the Great Flood, Shem, Ham, and Japheth (Noah's sons), The Sumerians, and The Tower of Babel. The blue strip represents the Ice Age which happened during the time of Noah's sons, The Sumerians, and The Tower of Babel. Row 2 starts with 2750 B.C, The Epic of Gilgamesh. We'll add on from there throughout the year until we finish Volume I of Mystery of History. It goes from Creation to the Resurrection of Christ.

It looks good. I did spend $15 on mine. I am the "stick with the book" kinda person because I hate to try things my way and then end up messing something up. The board is very long, but the dates did take up the whole length. I have a few pictures on my blog.
