Busy Monday

As I sit here typing, there is an apple mummifying above my head.. actually two apples. We buried one in baking soda and just hung one from a wire hanger (and when I say "just," I mean after peeling and coating in lemon juice). In a month, we'll be way past Ancient Egypt in our textbook but we'll have some cool lookin' mummies. I wonder how long it will take my wonderful husband to notice that apple hanging from the book shelf. ;)

We finally allowed Olympus Mons to erupt. I don't know why it took so very long for the volcano to dry but it finally did. We talked about how a volcano on Mars would most likely erupt differently than an Earth volcano given the temperature and gravity differences. The boys decided to make our lava blue since it's so cold on Mars. We couldn't figure out how to make the lava spew straight up to mimic the lower gravity of Mars so it just bubbled out the top and ran down the sides like a boring Earth volcano.

After we finished up the fun stuff, we hurried through Math, Spelling, and Language so we could make it to band on time. We barely made it. The band director told me Ryan is bored. But when I asked Rye about it, he said, "Was it because I was sitting on the table too much?" As it turns out, Ryan was finishing the songs before the rest of the band and then just relaxing on the table until they caught up with him. Um, hello.... Ryan, music is not a race to finish first! The kid is too competitive! He's not bored b/c he's already mastered the drums. He's bored b/c his timing is off! LOL

This evening we had more football and soccer play-offs. I can absolutely not believe that both Ryan and Adam's teams keep winning. Adam will be playing in the championship game on Thursday. How awesome is that? Except Ryan still has football practice on Thursday. I hate for him to miss it since they cancelled Tuesday night practice for trick-or-treat and he's skipping Wednesday night practice for church. I can only hope they lose this Saturday's game so we can be done!! Adam's season will be over Thursday, win or lose, so I hope they win. ;)
