Meet Sam

We finished our Astronomy book!! Since it's only February, you'd think we finished early. But we actually started Astronomy last winter so we're right on time. We're going to finish up this year with a unit study of the human body. That's where Sam comes in. Isn't he handsome? He just a plastic halloween skeleton that I've had in my school cabinet for a couple years. I had to perform some knee surgery on him this year but now he's as good as new. The boys spent today labeling his parts. We also read from some Usborne books, Human Body and Complete Book of the Human Body. Both books are internet linked so we can go on-line to find some very cool web sites that match our studies.

The boys laughed at this silly movie on the skeletal system. There's also some short videos on other body systems.

We used this site to test our knowledge of bone names. Adam got a 100% on his first try. Ryan did the test three times before getting them all right.

Here's some pics of Adam and Ryan getting to know Sam...

We're going through the Usborne Book of the Human Body too!! It's a great book! Of course, we won't have as much fun as you because we don't have a Sam at our house. Bummer.

I wish it were darker here in the summer so I could enjoy some astronomy time--I love the subject.
