Snow Day

We woke up to snow this morning!! It's not that much snow but the temperature is so very cold!! The boys didn't last long outside. It took quite a while to find all their snow gear and get them bundled up. Then I took them outside and got their sleds out for them. I took a couple pictures and then went back inside. I put some water on the stove for hot chocolate and then sat down to grade language tests. The water hadn't even gotten warm before Evan was at the door crying. Ugghh! I told him (and meant it) that he would not be playing in the snow next time! It wasn't that much longer before the other two were back inside (Matthew was napping). It really is very, very cold out there!
But prior to all the fun in the snow, we started back to school. The public schools may be closed but home schoolers aren't scared of a little snow. It does help that we don't have to drive the icy roads or even venture outside if we don't want to!

While Evan ate breakfast, we started a new astronomy chapter. His food kept him occupied so he managed to sit through most of the two pages that we read. Adam and Ryan also participated and I was truly amazed at how much they remembered from the previous chapter on Jupiter. Saturn and Jupiter are often referred to as twins b/c they're so similar. Evan wandered off towards the end of Science but Adam and Ryan and I continued on with History. We read a chapter on Abraham from Mystery of History.

Then I let the big boys have a break while Evan did his math. He didn't want to do it but once we got started, he was fine. He's still wearing the cast so I did all the writing for him. Adam and Ryan did Math after Evan. Then Evan did several pages in his language book while the older two finished their math. Again, I did all the writing. The cast comes off tomorrow!

After lunch, Adam and Ryan did spelling, followed closely by language. They took language tests today and both landed solid B's. But Adam did the bonus sentence and brought his grade up to a 100%. They're both doing really well with Winston Grammar. We're about 3/4 of the way through the book and will start some composition when we're done with grammar.

All three big boys were begging to play outside by the time we finished all that so that's what we, I mean, they did. I don't do cold or wet. Brrr! And you already read how that turned out!

Oh we haven't gotten back to the routine yet. Now I feel guilty :) My kids didn't last long outside either.
